MVSU Women Add Three Signees

Itta Bena, Miss.- The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes basketball team announced today the addition of three signees for the 2006-07 basketball season.

Adding to the Devilettes depth in the back court will be Ebony Fears of West Point High School in West Point, MS and Amanda Hammond of Morrilton High School in Morrilton, AR.

Fears (5-5, 155, Guard), a native of Prairie, MS is a two sport athlete also playing volleyball.  She was named to several All-Star teams as well as being tabbed 2006 District Player of the Year.

Hammond (5-2, 125, Guard), a native of Plumerville, AR is another multi-sport athlete also participating in track.  Hammond, a key member of the 2005-06 State Championship team was most recently named to the 2006 All-State team.  In 2004 she was named Rookie of the Year and in 2005 named All-Tournament (Neosho, MO).

Rounding out the trio the Devilettes will add a much needed presence in the paint in Brittany Rochelle of North Little Rock West Campus in North Little Rock, AR.  Rochelle (6-3, 192, Center), a part of the 2005-06 State Championship team was named All-Metro and All-Area.

“We are extremely pleased to add these three young ladies to our team,” said Devilettes Head Coach Nate Kilbert.  “To be able to bring in student-athletes of this caliber that will perform in the classroom as well as the basketball court is a testament to the strides we have made in developing a top-notch program.”
